Description: The Flex version has significantly reduced the number of supported 3D Mesh export formats. Many of our downstream workflows and client requirements depend on the formats that are currently missing.
Requested Formats to Restore:
Bentley Native: 3SM / iTwin Ready.
Open/Standard Formats: OSGB, S3C, FBX, DAE, XML.
GIS Standards: I3S (Esri).
Why this is critical: Losing these formats breaks existing pipelines where the mesh is integrated into BIM, gaming engines (Unity/Unreal), or Esri-based GIS environments.

Michael Kikinzon
Hi,
In my case, most clients use the Esri/i3s format because of its ease of integration and display performance in the ESRI environment.
Please take this into consideration and re-introduced the Esri/i3s format.
Best regards,
Jérémy Wattiez
Hello Michael,
Thank you for your comment.
In the past, we supported a very large number of export formats. However, many of these were legacy formats, were not well-maintained, or have been superseded by more modern, capable, and standardized formats.
Our new approach focuses on the formats that are the bedrock of today's AEC and reality modeling workflows. By concentrating on these, we can provide:
-Higher Quality Exports: Each format is more robustly tested and maintained.
- Future-Proofing: We are focusing on formats that are actively developed and widely supported.
- Better Workflows: We are ensuring seamless integration with the most popular and powerful tools in the industry.
We are actively listening to our users and will be evaluating the re-introduction of certain formats based on demand and their fit within modern workflows. Our goal is to provide the best possible experience and to ensure that iTwin Capture Modeler is the most interoperable and powerful reality modeling solution on the market.
For now, the follwing format will be re-introduced in Modeler Flex release in May 2026 and additional option for existing ones :
OSGB for 3D mesh
JPEG for orthomosaics
Compression for orthomosaic TIFF (LZW)
Best regards,
Liv
