When evaluating a highway, it happened to us that the barriers between the lanes were overgrown with vegetation, which made our work difficult. It would help us a lot if we used the following procedure:

1) we would evaluate the white line on the road - we would use the "Road mark with 2 points" tool

2) then we would offset the resulting line from step 1) to the barrier between the lanes using the "Create Parallel by Map reference" or "Create Parallel by Distance" tools

3) Barriers often have a standardized height. We would add this height to the line from step 2) and thus evaluate the guardrail

Our department only records the occurrence of guardrails along the roads, so minor inaccuracies do not bother us - we would make positional corrections via 2D Edits, where the Z coordinate is preserved.
